The most things about filmphotograhy I learnt on Youtube for sure. Starting as a film noob, not even knowing that the 400 or 200 of the film meant ISO. Or that the ISO was in the film, not in the camera (seriously, I thought this was changable) I slowly started to know more and more about film and I now finally understand those portra hashtags. And all this, I owe to YouTube and to these heroes below.
So for you here I listed the best filmphotography channels on youtube, for you to learn and get inspired.
1. Willem Verbeeck
Ofcourse I had to start with this guy, I remember drinking my coffee and watching a video about film on his channel every-single-morning. It got me so motivated to keep on shooting film and I have learnt so much because of this channel. Really love his relaxed vibe and the way he explains, makes me feel to just enjoy film and learn while shooting.
2. Matt Day
I think Matt is the Godfather of the film channels on Youtube. He has a great variety of video’s about film and just like Willem he seems like a super relaxed guy who makes you feel like everyone should try film and that it is ok to make mistakes. I really like his honesty and how respectful and open he is towards different kinds of camera’s, ways of shooting etc. He doesn’t make it seem like there’s only one correct way, which is really nice.
3. Negative Feedback
Maybe this is my favourite youtuber of this list. I love how he makes his video’s. Unlike a lot of video’s out there on youtube, he sometimes leaves out the music while showing the result photos which is so peaceful. Besides the fact that he knows a lot, it’s a very funny guy and his video’s are very enjoyable to watch.
4. Analog Resurgence
I love this channel! This is for the real film freaks wanting to know everything about everything. I am surprised by how much Noah knows about camera’s, film, video etc. And it really has been very satisfying since it is not a lazy channel, which you keep on watching but doesn’t satisfy you in any way. Instead, I always feel like I have learnt a lot after watching.
